The best adjective to describe my family is 'Scatter'. We are scattered geographically, morally, emotionally, culturally, religiously... you name it, we're all over the place with it.
Growing up, my parents were always borderline traditional and modern. Whether the tradition was religion based, holidays, Eid, New year, whatever... we didn't quite know what to celebrate because we tend to be in different countries at different times of the year, barely ever all together. My parents struggled between raising their kids with Iranian tradition and cultural values while us, the kids, were raised in western society among western friends, in a liberal setting.
This christmas, for the first time in a long time, my siblings and I were all in the same city. Our parents of course in a different country, so I decided, it's time to make christmas part of the many traditions I plan to adopt in my lifetime.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday!
